3s Program

Preschool students are eager to learn more about themselves and how they fit into our world. Students are provided ample opportunities for hands-on instruction balanced with exploration and play. Students adjust to more formalized routines while experiencing the joys of learning. Children will learn through two faith-based Christian curriculums, Abeka and Horizons. Handwriting Without Tears is introduced at this age as a developmentally appropriate handwriting curriculum.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Children must be 3 by September 30 to be eligible to enroll.
  • Increased socialization through small group play and classroom routines
  • Self-help skills are further developed as children gain independence
  • Fine motor skills are emphasized as beginning writers emerge
  • Math skills include number sense, patterning, and categorizing
  • Science/STEAM and exploration concepts regarding our natural world and building and constructing
  • Social and emotional concepts that emphasize self-awareness, confidence, and understanding others
  • Learning about God's world and appreciating his creation
  • All students must be toilet trained prior to the start of the school term.

 

Schedule Options for 3s Classes:

  • 5 days a week, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Monday - Friday)
  • 3 days a week, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Monday - Wednesday)
  • 2 days a week, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Thursday and Friday)

The 2024-2025 school year will start on Tuesday, September 3 and end on Friday, May 23.

The school day begins at 9:00am (Arrival begins at 8:50am) and end at 1:00pm (dismissal begins at 12:45pm). For the Kindergarten class, the hours are 9:00am to 2:00pm.

While we understand that potty training is a process, we do require that all students be fully potty trained to attend preschool.

The class size is 15 students with two teachers.

In the event Loudon County Public Schools close due to inclement weather, Gateway Village Children's Center will also close. If there is a two-hour delay, Gateway Village Children's Center will open at 10:00am and dismiss at normal time.

Yes, tours are by appointment only. Tours are reserved for those families who are looking for immediate or future enrollment. If you would like to schedule a tour, please call 703-327-0707 or fill out our request information form. Tours can be scheduled Tuesday – Thursday anytime between 1:00pm - 2:30pm.

Your child's spiritual development is fostered through the unconditional love and support they receive from our staff through prayer, songs, stories, and recognition of creation and God's blessings. Children will attend chapel once a month. Chapel time includes a monthly bible story, songs, and prayer.

While we welcome you to join us for Sunday services and other aspects of our church, you do not need to attend or be a member of Gateway Community Church to enroll your child.
